Data Architecture Consultant

Role purpose

Develop client data-architecture recommendations, models, standards and transition designs that align business needs, security, interoperability and QDKC requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver QDKC-aligned client work using the official guides, templates and frameworks relevant to the engagement.
  • Assess client evidence, facilitate workshops and produce traceable recommendations or implementation deliverables.
  • Develop with client stakeholders current- and target-state architecture views and transition plans.
  • For client engagements, design conceptual, logical and physical models and integration patterns.
  • Facilitate and document client decisions on architecture principles, standards, reference patterns and design decisions.
  • Review client evidence and advise on solution designs for quality, interoperability, security and reuse.
  • Transfer knowledge to client personnel and document decisions, assumptions, dependencies and handover requirements.
  • Respect client governance: consultants advise, facilitate and deliver, but do not replace the client's accountable owners, approvers or governance bodies.

Recommended minimum requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, data engineering, information systems or a related field.

Experience: Typically 6-10 years in data architecture, data modeling, solution architecture or data engineering.

Core competencies: Data modeling, Architecture methods, Integration and APIs, Database and platform design, Security-by-design, Stakeholder communication

Preferred certifications

Preferred, but not mandatory:

  • TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Practitioner
  • CDMP Practitioner with Data Modeling and Design specialty
